Good Day Alabama Appearence this Week!

This week I will be appearing again on Good Day Alabama.  They gave me my schedule last month so it looks like I will once again be a regular on Good Day.  I was on the week before last, too.  Apparently someone cancelled and they needed someone to fill in--waalaa...ME.  I Sauted Shrimp with Greens and it was wunderBAR!  Next time I will probably add some chopped pecans (but not too many--this isn't a pecan salad after all) and maybe even a little UNhealthy bacon...hmmhmm good!

I cancelled myself last week as we are down one cook and we were just too busy at Healthy Connections to do an outside appearence...oh well.  Hopefully this week will get us back on track.

We are still looking for a new cook--so if you know anyone keep us in mind!

A surprise appearence on Good Day Alabama!

I was on Good Day Alabama! this morning for Healthy Connections!

In the past I have done fish, chicken, turkey, and various salads. The recipes for my past dishes can be found at the Good Day Alabama Recipe Archive web site --just search for 'Cruse' , as in Chef Wendy Cruse ;) (although today, for some reason, they decided to spell it Cruz, oh well).

This was somewhat of a surprise appearence as I was not scheduled to be on until next Wednesday. Apparently they needed a ratings boost and called in the big guns ;) I have been planning for next week's appearence, and did not want to scuttle that menu, so I pulled something tastey out of my (Chef's) Hat of Wonder (henceforth referred to as my (C)HoW). My (C)HoW provided pan-seared, pecan-encrusted catfish served with a maple syrup-based sauce. Umm Umm, good!

You can check out the segment of me cookin' in the kitchen with Janice by clicking on the (grainy, pixelated) photo of me. This is a new feature Fox6 is offering and I think it will be very popular!

I must go now...keep cooking...healthy!

Two other things:

First CNN has a cool, web-based application that helps "make [you] more aware of what [you] are eating" (thanks, Slashfood). I will be playing with this during my lunch break.

And, secondly, Slashfood also had a picture of my favorite, favorite soda--the european version of Fanta Orange. If you have ever had the european version then you know the difference in taste. Anywho, this is the picture...dontcha' love it???

Good Day Alabama! Appearance Tomorrow Morning

I will be on Good Day Alabama! tomorrow morning. This is WBRC-FOX/6 for those not from (or very familiar with) Birmingham.

In the past I have done fish, chicken, turkey, and various salads. The recipes for my past dishes can be found at the Good Day Alabama Recipe Archive web site --just search for 'Cruse', as in Chef Wendy Cruse ;)

Tomorrow I will be preparing Tacos al Carbón. I wouldn't call it a spicey dish, however it is very flavorful.

Wednesday morning am pickups

It's after 6:00 and I am getting bags ready for pickup today.

The gibberish (nonsense text) presented here is generated by a very simple computer program. Given some sample text, say Shakespeare, as input, the computer generates output which is random, but which has the same statistical distribution of characters or combinations of characters. (A character may be a letter, a digit, a space, a punctuation mark, etc.)

In level 1 gibberish, the output has the same distribution of single characters as the input. For example, the probability of seeing a character like "e" or "z" or "." will be approximately the same in the output as in the input. In level 2 gibberish, the output has the same distribution of character pairs as the input. For example, the probability of seeing a pair like "th" or "te" or "t." will be approximately the same in the output as in the input. In general, in level n gibberish, the output has the same distribution of groups of n characters (n-tuples) as the input.

It is amazing how well this simple algorithm works, even for very low level numbers. For example, at level 2, you can easily recognize different languages. At level 3 you can recognize the styles of different authors.

For even more fun, the gibberish generator can easily blend two different languages or two different authors. If the input is simply the text from author A followed by the text from author B, the output will be a smooth blend of the tw
